Family Case Management Project

Volunteers make regular visits to the homes of identified kidney patients, to conduct interviews about their living situations, make first-hand observations and identify patients who need critical assistance. A subset of families are then provided with focused and targeted assistance in the form of intensive caseworker advocacy, financial subsidies, household assistance, and liaison with other organizations.

Family Excellence Circles

MKAC conducts regular focus group sessions modeled after the Family Excellence Circle. Each session allows kidney patients and their families to learn more about what others are going through, encourages interaction and discussion and provides a strong social support network for patients. Through these sessions, MKAC identifies opportunities for patients and their families to avail of our programmes and services.

Passion 4 Education

Passion 4 Education (“P4E”) is a programme established to provide for the children from kidney patient families. Through P4E, primary and secondary-age youth who underperform in school are encouraged to take a fresh interest in their weak subjects. MKAC believes that this will lead to better scholastic results and higher confidence levels.

Skills Development Programme

In 2010 MKAC introduced several skills upgrading classes for our beneficiaries. The goal of the programme is to upgrade the skill levels of kidney patients in areas such as sewing, artificial flower making and arrangements, cooking, cake and dessert making and other skills.

Financial Assistance Scheme

Financial Assistance Scheme

A financial subsidy scheme where patients in need of interim financial support to continue with their dialysis treatment and related medication can apply for assistance. The scheme provides stopgap subsidies for continues dialysis treatment and related medication. After which MKAC will assist the patient to identify alternative sources of assistance that are more permanent.

Job Placement Scheme

Kidney patients that are in need of income-generation opportunities are identified to participate in the Job Placement scheme. The Job Placement scheme searches and identifies job opportunities that are the best match for the participant’s skills and readies the participant for starting employment to generate sustainable income for the family.
