The main objectives of a community engagement program for kidney patients include:
- Education and Awareness: The program aims to educate patients and the general public about kidney disease, its causes, symptoms, and available treatment options. It also focuses on promoting early detection and prevention strategies.
- Support and Counselling: The program provides emotional support, counseling, and resources to kidney patients and their families. It offers a platform for individuals to share their experiences, seek guidance, and connect with others facing similar challenges.
- Patient Empowerment: The program aims to empower kidney patients by providing them with the knowledge, tools, and skills necessary to actively manage their condition. It encourages self-care, lifestyle modifications, and adherence to treatment plans.
- Community Integration: The program seeks to integrate kidney patients into their local communities by organising social events (learning journeys), support groups, and educational workshops. It fosters a sense of belonging and reduces feelings of isolation often associated with chronic illness.
